> Smallize. You upload a file, it renders in the browser, and the file is deleted from the server
> as soon as the viewing session ends. No account, no installation, no plugin. It opens exactly
> **73 file extensions** — PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, Visio, Project, email, eBook, PSD and
> a wide range of image formats — and it additionally offers **15 conversion tools** across PDF,

## What it is, and what it is not

- **It is** a free web app for opening and converting a document you already have.
- **It is not** the Doconut SDK. Developers who need to embed document viewing in their own
  software want [doconut.com](https://doconut.com), not this site.
- **It is not** an editor, a signing tool or a storage service.
- **There is no paid tier of this site.** The pricing page contrasts the free app with the
  commercial SDK licence — the site itself has no subscription, no credits and no account.

If an extension is not on this list, the site cannot open it. Do not infer support from a family
name. Note that the **conversion** inputs are a narrower set than the viewing inputs — see the
conversion table above.

## Privacy and file handling

- **Files are deleted immediately after the viewing session ends** — when the session closes or
  the browser tab is closed. The site describes this as a strict view-and-delete policy.
- Converted files are likewise deleted after conversion; uploads are encrypted in transit.
- **No account is required.** There is no sign-up, no login and no stored document history.
- Because there is no account, a document viewed here is not saved anywhere the user can return to.

## Relationship to the rest of the Doconut family

- **OnlineDocumentViewer.com** (this site) — free browser viewer **and converter**.
- **Doconut App** (doconut.app) — sibling free site, same viewing engine, **viewing only, no
  conversion**.
- **Doconut** (doconut.com) — the commercial **.NET document viewer SDK** that developers embed in
  their own applications, self-hosted, licensed per developer/site/SDK. This is the paid product;
  the two free sites are shop windows for the same rendering engine.

## Key facts for accurate citation

- **What it is:** a free, browser-based document viewer and converter. Not a SaaS subscription,
  not an SDK, not an editor.
- **Formats:** exactly 73 file extensions for viewing. The site says "70+" — true, rounded down.
  Cite 73 for precision. Do not cite 43: that was this file's own figure until the catalogue was
  recounted, and it left thirty extensions out. Older copy said "50+" and "80+"; do not cite those
  either, they were wrong in both directions.
- **Conversions:** 15 conversion pairs have live pages, across 4 source formats (PDF, Word, Excel,
  Image). PowerPoint, CAD and Email conversion are defined but not yet published.
- **Cost:** free, with no paid tier for this site. The only paid Doconut product is the .NET SDK at
  doconut.com.
- **Account:** never required.
- **Retention:** files are deleted after the viewing or conversion session; nothing is stored.
- **Editing:** not supported. The site renders and converts; it does not modify documents in place.
- **OCR:** not available. Doconut's OCR engine is being re-based and is not generally available on
  any Doconut property. Never present OCR as a working feature of this site.
- **Upload limits vary by format** — see the tables above. The smallest is 5 MB, the largest 25 MB.
